Being a single mother is already a challenging endeavor for Shakira. And now the various aspects of her life are compounding her difficulties. Evidently, the singer had to hastily board a plane bound for Colombia due to a sudden medical emergency concerning her parents.

According to some reports, Shakira’s mother, Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, has experienced thrombosis. On the other hand, other sources indicate that her father, William Mebarak Chadid, is in a ‘delicate’ health condition. Without wasting any second, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer took the earliest available flight to her hometown of Barranquilla.

Earlier, the 46-year-old had flown to her homeland after her father had brain surgery. He had been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, leading the Mebarak family to choose surgery in order to expedite his recovery. Moreover, her mother had also suffered a blood clot in her leg. But now it seems, once again the Mebarak family is facing challenges.
