Neymar was reluctantly sent to the Brazilian camp by his Al Hilal coach, Jorge Jesus, last month. The Portuguese coach gauged Neymar to not have recovered completely from his ankle injury. After a month, the Brazilian found himself in a worse spot, going out with a severe injury to the meniscus. But the Al Hilal star isn’t the only one suffering from such a problem. Al Ahli’s Merih Demiral has now received a similar blow to Neymar. The Al Ahli defender won’t be playing for a long time, as per the latest report.

Merih Demiral had an injury on his right knee recently and, as per reports, will be out for weeks getting rehabilitation. The player had undergone surgery for the meniscus in Innsbruck, Austria, supervised by a specialist surgeon for sports, Dr Christian Fink. One of the club’s doctors, Ahmad Hazazi, had also accompanied the player and was present with him during the medical procedure.

Demiral was one of the few players to join Al Ahli from Europe alongside Frank Kessie, Roberto Firmino, and Edouard Mendy. The Turkish international joined on a three-year contract from Italian club Atlanta. He formerly played for clubs like Juventus and Sassuolo. On the flip side, this was not the first time Demiral was affected by such an injury. The 25-year-old underwent an anterior cruciate ligament tear in 2020 during his time at Juventus. The player will miss the next important matches for Al Ahli, who is placed 5th in the Pro League.

On the other hand, how has Neymar been dealing with the recent setback? Let’s dive deeper.

However, the club could have anticipated such a hazard with his history of injuries. The injury means Neymar can no longer help the club this season and be involved in the much-liked AFC Champions League. The hefty schedule is more or less taking a toll on the players.
