Manchester City‘s FFP scandal continues to take a new turn every passing day. The Sky Blues have taken the case to the next level after accusing the Premier League authorities of tyranny. Manchester has been accused of breaching 115 FFP rules between 2008 to 2016. During this time, the club has been charged with inflating their financial value and illegally balancing their balance books. While the proceedings over the case are set to take place soon, Man City has surely added pressure on the authorities with the new lawsuit.

Not everyone is on board with the lawsuit with former Crystal Palace club owner Simon Jordan slamming the Sky Blues for their conduct during the latest episode of UpFront. Jordan stated, “I am gobsmacked with what Manchester City are doing. I think it’s absolutely outrageous. They’re trying to bully the headmaster when the headmaster is trying to expel them. It’s an absolute disgrace, and it brings the game into complete disrepute. If I was an owner in the Premier League now, I would be campaigning to expel them. I think fans should be very scared of the behavior they’re showing.”

His fellow UpFront host Graeme Souness also agreed with Jordan’s views adding, “Manchester City are challenging the entire fabric of our game. They’re going as far as they possibly can to say, ‘You’re all wrong and we’re going to sue you and prove you’re wrong’. How are the rest of the Premier League going to view Manchester City right now?”

There has been massive outrage over Manchester’s decision to sue the Premier League. Many clubs are not happy with the Sky Blues’ approach, with reports claiming City now risk relegation at least if they are found guilty in the financial fair play scandal.

Manchester City backed into a corner following a lawsuit against Premier League

While Man City might have sued the Premier League for using the APT rules to curb their growth, fellow clubs are unlikely to stand in their support anytime soon. Big clubs are not happy with Manchester City’s conduct, with many hoping the Sky Blues to be relegated if they are found guilty in the FFP scandal. Additionally, with teams standing firm during recent votes, Manchester City’s attempt to get away from the pack does not bode well for the club.

Apart from Manchester City, clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle United are also opposed to the current APT rules. However, both clubs are allegedly afraid of the backlash they will face if they support City and do not want to dip their toes into the matter. Do you think Man City have sued the Premier League just to put pressure on the authorities?
