Kylian Mbappe has had a rough start to the Euro 2024 with the French skipper breaking his nose in the team’s opening game against Austria. Fans looked quite concerned for the Real Madrid star with the player taken off the field after the injury. Well, things look under control as the French Football Association issued a statement on the player’s injury claiming while Mbappe was hurt, he would play the rest of the tournament with a protective face mask.

The news was well-received by fans, with many expecting the player to don a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask. For the unaccustomed Kylian Mbappe and TMNT have been a running joke among soccer fans, with many claiming the Frenchman looks like one character from the animated show. However, Fabrizio Romano took to his social media handle earlier today, shattering the hopes of many fans who were hoping to see the player in the cartoonish mask.

In the image posted by the Italian journalist, Kylian Mbappe can be seen sporting a facemask. However, the colors have thrown fans into chaos, with many not expecting the player to use France’s Blue, White, and Red like this. Meanwhile, the French Football Association commented on Kylian Mbappe’s injury, claiming the player had broken his nose. FFA in their statement, noted, “Kylian Mbappe has suffered a broken nose. He is back in camp with the rest of the squad and will undergo treatment in the coming days without undergoing immediate surgery. A mask will be constructed to enable the French team’s No. 10 to consider resuming competition after a period of treatment.”

Well, the mask is out in the open and not everyone is in love with the protective gear. Fans will hope that Kylian Mbappe can shrug off the woes from the last game and be at his best against the Netherlands. Notably, a win for either side will see them secure a place in the knockouts.
