Is Croix Bethune the next big thing for USWNT, or just another fleeting talent?

The USWNT looks like a formidable squad once again, with Emma Hayes in charge. The talented coach reclaimed those glory days and looks set to lead the team to future glory. Of course, dropping Alex Morgan made the news. Yet, she picked up some youth players and one became the upcoming talent, Croix Bethune. Lend me your years because Bethune will lead the line for the USMNT for a long time. Her wand of a left foot can pick out a pass in the thinnest of all spaces. Credit goes to Emma Hayes for nitpicking her from Washington Spirit.

In an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Bethune detailed the confidence Emma Hayes gave her, ultimately leading her to make a debut for the USWNT at the Paris Olympics. The Georgina school alumnus enters the pitch in the 80th minute against El Tri in the group stages for her nation. She acknowledged Emma Hayes for trusting her to provide for the team.

“Honestly, I was excited. And I was grateful that I just got the opportunity to go out there. Coz I was not able to know whether I would play or not. So, for Emma to put me out there, it was just a great experience.” What else should a younger player need? It makes a lot of difference when a coach believes in a player, as she revealed in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports.

Significantly, Bethune came in to replace Mallory Swanson in the match – the tournament’s leading scorer. She received her first cap on July 13th and also plays a crucial role in Washington Spirit. In 16 games, the 23YO has 10 assists and 5 goals leading the creative line for the team. We can see both Rodman and Bethune developing a fruitful partnership in the final third, which would be critical to USWNT’s success.

So with Emma Hayes trusting her, Bethune can become the ”Fourth Espresso’ in the coming years.

Emma Hayes believes in Croix Bethune and so do we!

For Emma Hayes to pick Bethune, speaks volumes about her talent. Do you remember when the great Arsenal men’s coach, Arsene Wenger, brought in a young Cesc Fàbregas to replace Patrick Viera? He faced a lot of criticism for making that move. Whether it turned fruitful is still up for debate because Arsenal never won a major trophy after Fabregas came in. But hold on there.

The USWNT won a gold medal with Croix Bethune playing in the midfield behind Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, and Mallory Swanson. The brilliant wonder kid provided accurate passes for the forwards to latch on to. Let’s just call her a supremo playmaker who loves to pass the ball rather than score.

With this gem of a soccer player in her hands, Emma Hayes would love to build the team around Croix Bethune. She has the talent, the determination, and the attitude to become special. Hopefully, she does it. Stay tuned to learn more about Croix Bethune in her exclusive interview with EssentiallySports.
