It’s not often that managers have sons who make it big on the international stage. But former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao will be on cloud nine following his son’s heroics in his Euros debut. Francisco Conceicao, aka Chico, has been amongst the top-rated talents since his move to Porto’s academy in 2016. Many at the club also refer to the striker as ‘Messi do Olival’ due to the similarities between his game and the Inter Miami superstar.
However, with his father in charge of the club last summer it was not going to be easy for the player to break into the team. Almost spending half the season on the sidelines his father decided to give his debut and oh boy he didn’t disappoint. With Porto down to 2-1, Francisco Conceicao was brought into the game with just 13 minutes on the clock. The player made an instant impact as he helped his team bag a penalty to level things up. While the player did score the winner for his team just minutes later it was unfortunately ruled out due to VAR.
Francisco Conceicao is the fourth son of his father Sergio Conceicao. His elder brothers Rodrigo and Sergio are also professional players with all of them playing in the top flight of Liga Portugal. The player is not in any relationship with his father claiming his son has to give his all to football for the time being.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. found an unlikely hero just when it looked like it was all over. Portugal’s Francisco Conceicao emerged as the hero for the team as the striker bagged a goal in the dying minutes of the game to help his team bag the 2-1 win over Czechia. The striker could not contain his emotions following the winner as he rushed to the sidelines with his teammates all over him to celebrate the monumental goal.
While many expected Portugal to breeze past their opponents, Czechia brought the fight to Roberto Martinez‘s men. The underdogs took the lead in the 62nd minute thanks to Lukas Provod‘s screamer that silenced everyone in the stadium. The lead did not last long as Robin Hranac’s own goal leveled things up just seven minutes later.

The match was at a stalemate, suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo and his team would likely have to settle for a draw when the game ended. However, Francisco Conceicao banged the winner as he connected with Pedro Neto’s pass inside the six-yard box and comfortably pushed it past the keeper to end Czechia’s night in misery.
