A court in Spain has formally indicted former Barcelona star Dani Alves. According to the statement from a judge from a court in Barcelona, she has found evidence against the defender for a case of alleged sexual assault from an incident in December. The Brazilian defender, 40, has expressed that he would not get in the way of legal proceedings through his lawyer. Earlier this year, Joana Sanz, Alves’ former partner, posted multiple screenshots of death threats aimed at her, following her decision to divorce the former Barcelona man. Now, following the proceedings, Sanz posted an emotional message on her social media.

Alves and Sanz’s separation hasn’t been a pleasant sight. In March, Joana posted two pages from her personal diary on social media, stating “But I love myself, respect myself and value myself much more.”

Following Dani Alves’ indictment statement, estranged wife Joana Sanz posted a series of photos and videos on her Instagram account talking about how she has been doing recently. Sanz also made comments on how it may not be fair to judge people by their perception through a screen.

“Medley of the week. Remember that everyone posts what they feel like and when they feel like it. Not 24/7 in real-time. You can’t judge a person you don’t know by what you see through a screen. I’m a person who likes to share good energy, both personally and through networks. Everyone lives with their demons as if you also have to live with yours,” read the caption.

She added, “This week I worked in Mallorca with a sun that cracks stones and a divine team that doesn’t lose a smile or work 15h. Then I snuck off to Barcelona to debut my car and go to Bodorrio. Sweaty at the gym any day whatever the time, because it is my best medicine. Hamburg 10 days to work with my favorite team, with my carnival culture themes. Coffee, because without coffee I’m not sociable. My books and a couple of tears in solitude.” It is good to see Joana Sanz doing well following the series of death threats that shocked fans earlier last month. On the other hand, things are taking a turn for the worse for her former partner Dani Alves.

Dani Alves indicted by Barcelona court

Former Barcelona star Dani Alves was arrested on January 20th, 2023, and since has been held in prison with no options for bail. The Brazilian has been denied bail on the grounds of the player being considered a flight risk. However, he has offered to turn in his passport and wear a tracking device for the duration of the case. With the court indicting Alves, the prosecution is likely to submit its charges, while the defense prepares its own case.

As of now, Alves has denied all claims and is said to be disappointed with how a new narrative has been framed. Alves will spend time in prison with a trial likely to take place sometime this year or early 2024.
