Well, it has to hurt if you are a Manchester City fan. The team’s hopes of repeating their treble have gone up in smokes following the team’s defeat on penalties to Real Madrid. With the defending UCL champions out of the competition, the team now has the chance to keep themselves alive in the remaining competitions. While the team’s chances might be low, it doesn’t seem like Pep Guardiola‘s men have any quits in them. Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland took to his social media following the defeat to Madrid, issuing a warning to Premier League rivals!

Haaland reacted to the team’s defeat with the striker adding the players gave their all and were disappointed by the result. However, there is still to play for and the team will do their best to reach those objectives. The Manchester City number 9 stated, “It’s difficult to leave the #UCL this way but I couldn’t be prouder of the team, we left our hearts out there and fought till the end. We still have other goals to achieve, starting this weekend, so let’s do this. Thank you as ever for the support 💙”

Despite the Champions League trophy now out of their grasp, Manchester City still has the opportunity to make history. Pep Guardiola’s side has won 3 consecutive editions of the Premier League and a win this season will see them become the only English club to win the league title 4 seasons in a row in the topflight. While the league has to be the team’s priority now, Pep Guardiola will have to rally his team as they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals before their return to regular competition.

Erling Haaland’s availability a concern against Chelsea

The game against Chelsea will test the team’s resolve, with Pep Guardiola’s men heading into Wembley on the back of a heartbreaking defeat. However, the defending champions have no time to mope as their opponents will look to double down the pain on the treble winners. To add to Pep Guardiola’s woes, Erling Haaland could miss the game against the Blues. The striker has subbed off before extra time against Real Madrid and is said to be nursing a muscular injury.

According to reports, the player could be on the bench for the game. Pep Guardiola is unlikely to use the striker in the contest unless the team needs him to step in during a crunch position. With just 6 games left in the regular league campaign, Pep Guardiola would love to have the Norwegian feature in all the games. Haaland has been a key for Manchester City’s success in domestic competitions and his absence for a extended duration could be a big blow for the team.
