Manchester City‘s dream duo of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne may be world-class, but according to the Fluminense’ boss, they are not the biggest strength of the team. The Brazilian club’s manager Fernando Diniz recently made a bold claim by snubbing Haaland and De Bruyne, highlighting the collective factor and team dynamic as the main reasons behind Manchester City’s success.

Both Haaland and De Bruyne are currently sidelined due to injuries. This resulted in their absence from the Club World Cup semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds. And now they are also set to miss the upcoming final against Fluminense. However, for the Fluminense boss, it is not their absence that is a cause for concern.

Just a day before the big match for the Club World Cup trophy Fernando Diniz sat down in an interview. When asked about his thoughts on the absence of Erling Haaland and De Bruyne he stated, “What works at ManCity is the collective factor.” He further added, “The great thing for me, even though they have the best in the world, is the way they connect.”

It is evident to Diniz that the true strength of Manchester City lies in the synergy created by their manager, Pep Guardiola. His perspective is quite interesting, considering the incredible individual performances that the Norwegian striker and the Belgian midfielder have displayed.

Last season Erling Haaland scored a remarkable 52 goals, while De Bruyne recorded an impressive tally of 31 assists. Despite all this, for the Brazilian manager, their statistics do not overshadow the teamwork of this treble-winning team. This teamwork will surely be tested in the finals when playing without the services of their injured superstars.

The update on injuries of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne

Erling Haaland is currently in the process of recovering from his ankle injury. However, there is some positive news on his progress as Guardiola recently disclosed that it was not a fracture but rather a stress injury. Despite this update, Haaland did not participate in the Club World Cup match.

On the other hand, Kevin De Bruyne has been sidelined for over three months due to a thigh injury. But in a positive development, the Belgian recently returned to training. On top of that, he also traveled with the team for the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Despite these encouraging signs, both players were ultimately left out of the squad for the semi-final match, indicating that they have not fully recuperated yet. As for their return date, we can only wait for a future update on their condition.
