Wolves fans had a lot of expectations heading into their game against Manchester City. Gary O’Neil had a chance to help the Wolves make Premier League history becoming the only team to have done a league double twice except Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City. However, the team’s hopes received a massive hammering with the reigning Premier League champions bagging a 5-1 win thanks to a 4-goal onslaught from Erling Haaland.
The striker wrapped things up in the first half as he completed his 3rd first-half hat-trick in City colors. While Hwang Hee-chan did find a goal for Wolves in the second half, Haaland put the game to bed with a follow-up goal within a minute. While the striker has taken off in the closing minutes of the game, the goals did not stop with Julian Alvarez landing the final nail in the coffin.

Before the game, Wolves were among the five teams to complete a League double over Manchester City. The side had a historic run against the treble winners in 2019-20 becoming the first team outside the big six to hand Pep Guardiola two losses in a single season. The other teams on the list include Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford. While Wolves had the chance to become the first team in the list to repeat the milestone twice. They were blown out of the water thanks to Erling Haaland’s goalscoring prowess.
Erling Haaland masterclass keeps Manchester City on the track
The Manchester City superstar was the star of the show with his team picking up a 5-1 win over the away team. Pep Guardiola’s side with the win has also avenged the 2-1 loss at the hands of Wolves at the Molineux from the start of the season. Wolves were outplayed by their opponents from the get-go with Josko Gvardiol and Kyle Walker creating issues for the team. A foul on Gvardiol saw Manchester City awarded with a penalty, that was cleanly dispatched by Erling Haaland. The striker then converted a beautiful cross from Rodri into a perfect header to lodge the ball into the back of the net.
Erling Haaland then created a chance for himself as he ran into the box before being fouled earning another spot-kick. With all this happening within the first half, it did not take long for the striker to complete a well-deserved hattrick. Fans will hope the team can use their striker’s performance as an inspiration and deliver in their upcoming games.
