Alejandro Garnacho scored a wonderful overhead kick as Manchester United scored three past Everton. Soccer fans were left in awe with fans on social media praising the finish. Some of them compared him to United legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. However, manager Erik ten Hag has laughed off the comparisons. He said, “Don’t compare, I don’t think it’s right,”. “They all have their own identity. For Garnacho to go that way, he has a lot to come, he has to work very hard and do it on a consistent base. So far, he has not but he definitely has high potential to do some amazing things”.
The comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo happened as this goal conjured up CR7’s iconic overhead kick from 2018 and the Siiiu celebration Garnacho did after. Whereas, the goal reminded the fans of Rooney’s famous goal in the Manchester derby in the 2010/11 season. This praise will certainly provide Garnacho with more encouragement. However, the Argentinian is aware that he needs to do well consistently.
Ten Hag will now hope that his team can consistently win games in the Premier League because the main target remains top 4 again. However, as for Garnacho, this is not the first time, he will be happy getting compared to his soccer idol.

The Argentinian international has always idolized Cristiano Ronaldo
In the final years of Cristiano Ronaldo at United, Alejandro Garanacho made the jump from youth to the senior squad. During that time, also his Siiu celebrations with the youth team would make the headlines. So it was exciting to see the master and the student play for the same team. The admiration for Ronaldo came because Garnacho played for the Real Madrid academy before joining the Red Devils.
In the last season, after their Europa League game against Sheriff, he shared a photo with Ronaldo. He captioned it,” I don’t know if it’s real or if I’m dreaming.”Cristiano Ronaldo replied with a fist bump emoji.
