As the domestic season comes to an end, it’s time for some international action. In Europe, the preparations for the 2024 EURO are in full swing as nations gear up for warm-up friendlies. England also looks set who will be taking Bosnia & Herzegovina first at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on Monday evening. The Three Lions are keen to keep a strong foot against their European counterparts after facing disappointment in the finals of the previous installment against Italy.

They finished first in Group C of the UEFA Euro qualifiers, with Italy finishing them behind, ahead of the likes of Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Malta. Gareth Southgate and Co. are entering this fixture with a 2-2 draw played against Belgium in March. Just days before this, they had also endured a narrow loss against Brazil.

On the other hand, Bosnia & Herzegovina unfortunately failed to qualify for the 2024 Euros. They were seeded alongside Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, Slovakia—who qualified, Luxembourg, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. The likes of Edin Dzeko and Miralem Pjanic are coming into the fixture to face England with a 1-2 loss against Ukraine.

England vs Bosnia & Herzegovina team news: Latest injury update on Bukayo Saka and John Stones

England: Gareth Southgate announced that his England side will be without five players tomorrow. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Anthony Gordon missed the training but the 53-year-old insisted that the situation wasn’t grave. “All [three] are progressing well, so we are pleased with the progress they have made,” he said. Well the remaining two stars, you guessed it right, are Bukayo Saka and John Stones, who will also remain sidelined against Bosnia.

Bosnia & Herzegovina: New boss Sergej Barbarez takes charge for the first match tomorrow. Unfortunately, he would not have former Arsenal and recent Europa League winner with Atalanta, Sead Kolasinac at his disposal. Bosnia will be forced to field without their veteran defender, Ermin Bicakcic, who still nurses his ankle issue.
