Can Emma Hayes' magic lead the USWNT to World Cup glory in 2027? What do you think?

Attaining the ultimate glory isn’t everyone’s cup of coffee. It takes grit and a fierce drive, just like the USWNT showed at the 2024 Olympics. While they had to deal with the immense pressure of healing from last year’s disappointment in the World Cup, Emma Hayes dared to go with a young squad that triumphed with a gold. But, their dominating performance winning every game is now giving supporters a palpable sense of anticipation for the future. This was echoed by an expert who lauded Hayes for bringing back the Stars and Stripes women to where they belong.

Speaking on the NWSL’s pre-match show analyst Christine Cupo is excited to see the authority of the USWNT back. “We have such a young crop of such extraordinarily talented players who have formed an outstanding chemistry together under a very limited amount of time under Emma Hayes.” praising the team spirit. However, she continued praising the team’s ability which gives high hopes for the 2027 World Cup.

She stated, “We have not nearly seen the sealing of their talents and capabilities just yet. I’m so excited for what’s to come with this team. They show so much of that champion  DNA that we know so well for the US Women’s National Team,” getting excited about the hereafter.

It was a period of anxiety for the US soccer enthusiasts as the team headed to the Games in Paris. While it had one of its worst renditions in the World Cup after losing out in the round of 16 in 2023, a squad without seniors from last time like Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe added to some jitters. But Hayes and her unit’s stamping display of conceding just 2 goals in the tournament and nothing in the knockouts against the best opponents was nothing less than exhilarating.

Hayes when she arrived already focused on how important the environment inside the team was. The 47-year-old emphasized the need for having the right culture within the unit and helped a young and talented squad bond well and realize their potential.

One of their attacking spearheads Sophia Smith stated, “I think she has come in and helped us rediscover who we already knew we were, but we just needed a little bit of guidance.” suggesting how positivity made its way with Hayes. However, the squad will believe it’s their time now to create a legacy. The aim will be to keep working towards the 2027 World Cup in Brazil and the team feels that the Olympic gold is just the beginning of what they have.
