It’s safe to say that the October window was quite a success for the USWNT. The American ladies kept their winning streak alive, securing victories in both matches against Iceland and one against Argentina. While this suggests that there are hardly any changes the team may require, Emma Hayes has pointed out one area that she believes ‘can be done well’ by the team.
Beyond the victory tour, the motive of this month’s tour was simple; to fix the constant issue within the team. However, even in these three matches, the recent Paris Olympic winners couldn’t do so, forcing Hayes to make the players understand the gravity of the situation. “The team know that we, in this camp, have been working a lot on the finishing phase part, the decision-making, and execution in the last part of the pitch,” said Hayes, before the Argentina clash.
“So I’ll be curious to see how we handle that but once again when you have multiple changes, sometimes it’s hard to build off some of the connections because we’re forming lots of new partnerships all of the time,” added the former Chelsea boss, insisting how new faces can delay their process of making this crucial correction.

If possible, Hayes would hope that the group fixes this situation right away, considering the Stars and Stripes ft ladies will be reuniting directly at the end of November to face England at Wembley Stadium. After a span of four days, they will then lock horns against the Netherlands, making it more important for them to work even harder.
“But I want to see intent whether that’s a change of tempo in the final third, whether it’s the right decision in the right moment. I still think the individual decision-making pieces can be done well. So I will be looking for that and yeah among other things,” concluded Hayes, while underlining the urgent need for this change.
Well, Hayes is the expert on the areas where she truly believes the team can improve. Who knows, that may bring out what we never imagined to see from the USWNT. Not to mention, she still wasn’t impressed with her side after a rather dominant display over Argentina.

The American ladies achieved a convincing 3-0 victory over La Albiceleste yesterday, thanks to a surprising brace from Naomi Girma, which came in two halves, along with an own goal before halftime. However, despite the favorable scoreline, Emma Hayes emphasized a significant concern about the team’s capacity to create quality chances.
“I still don’t believe we’re generating as much xG [expected goals] as I think we can,” she said, following the post-match interview. This suggests that she aims for more than just victories; she seeks a dominant playing style against tougher opponents and wants to improve the quality of goal-scoring opportunities, which are essential for the team’s development.

“We’re still limited a little bit with that,” Hayes acknowledged, but she remains optimistic about future improvements. While the USWNT has been scoring multiple goals lately, she believes they can create even more chances. Regardless, let’s see if they can do till before the England clash.
