Karim Benzema was supposed to play in the World Cup but missed it due to an injury in the thigh. He was still part of France’s 26-man squad but didn’t play in the entire competition. Some senior players were reported to be revolting against bringing the Ballon d’Or winner back.
This left fans to speculate that there has been some bad blood between Benzema and the French National team. But there are still some French players that Benzema has still not unfollowed and he still follows the official handle of the France team.
The list of French stars that Karim Benzema still follows includes this year’s World Cup Golden Boot winner Kylian Mbappe. Other names include ex-Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Marcus Thuram, and many fellow Real Madrid-French teammates such as Camavinga and Ferland Mendy.
But it came as a surprise when it was revealed that Benzema had also unfollowed his Real Madrid teammate Aurelian Tchouameni alongside a few French players, including Griezmann and Lloris. This raised many questions among Real Madrid fans. However, he later went on to follow him back.

Now that the World Cup has ended, club soccer is set to resume. Although there’s still the drama about why Benzema left the French team, the speculations about Benzema’s dissonance with fellow French-Real Madrid players don’t seem to build any form. It will be interesting to see how this would play out.
