With a fortune of $80 million, Gerard Pique has the financial means to back any projects he desires. After splitting with pop sensation Shakira last year, the former FC Barcelona defender ventured into a unique soccer league. His brainchild, Kings League, quickly rose to fame and even attracted some criticism from the La Liga President.

The World Cup winner, nevertheless, went ahead with the plans and recently completed the second split of the Kings League. However, it seems the league has landed itself in another controversy. A third-division Spanish club has slammed one of the Kings League clubs, its owner, and the venture.

Ibai Llanos, a streamer and close friend of Gerard Pique, owns Porcinos FC in the Kings League. Everything was going well between the duo until a few days back. As quoted by Marca, Llanos claimed he isn’t as happy with the situation of the Kings League, contrary to how he felt back in January. It was a reality check for Pique from his close friend.

But it seems Llanos has pulled Gerard Pique and his brainchild into another controversy. And so, Porcinos FC dropped a bomb recently by announcing Kings League’s superstar Nadir Louah. The former Aniquiladores FC player was on the verge of returning to proper soccer by joining third-division FE Grama. But Llanos swooped the player from Grama by offering reportedly over $4,000 per month salary, compared to $165 at FE Grama.

Louah had a contract agreement with FC Grama, but Llanos reportedly paid an $11,000 release clause to land the player. It hasn’t gone down well with the Spanish 3rd division side, who labeled Pique’s league as “halfway between football and entertainment,” for not being a regulated tournament. The club’s statement stated“The competition is not regulated in any way and acts outside the RFEF structure.”

FE Grama has asked Spanish Federation to act, and the meeting could happen in the next month. However, Llanos signing Louah has also angered another Kings League club.

Ibai Llanos and his new signing attract criticism

On August 4, Porcinos, Llanos’ club, released a statement regarding Nadir Louah’s signing. It sparked some criticism over social media, as the player opted for Porcinos’ project. Another club that fumed was his former club in the league, Aniquiladores FC. However, Llanos ensured that he discussed with Juan Guarnizo, owner of Aniquiladores FC, before approaching Louah.
