After a long wait, Manchester United has finally managed to snag a new number 9. The Red Devils went all in for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, securing his services for a massive $82 million. Following Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure from the team last season, United struggled to find the back of the net consistently. While the team tried fitting in other players, it seemed like Ronaldo’s gap was too big to fill.
With Hojlund’s addition to the team, it seems like Manchester United has found their ideal Cristiano Ronaldo replacement. The Danish striker had a great stint with Atalanta and will now be looking to replicate the same for United. In a recent interview, Rasmus Hojlund talked about comparing himself with Ronaldo.

Following his arrival at Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund, in a recent interview with MUTV, talked about having a similar mentality to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Danish striker quoted Ronaldo’s interview alongside Rio Ferdinand, where CR7 claimed to be the best in the world.
“I think there’s an interview very early with [Ronaldo,] Anderson and [Rio] Ferdinand. The reporter asked them: ‘Who’s the best football player in the world?’ and he [Ronaldo] just said ‘me’. I like this mentality. That’s the same mentality I go for.”
Although Manchester United has found their new number 9 in Rasmus Hojlund, it will be interesting to see if the player can justify his massive price tag. United has spent a huge amount on talent over the last few years, with only a handful justifying their value.
