The success of Manchester City over the last few years knows no limits. The team has gathered such a reputation that even a small bad phase can be a source of despair among the supporters and cheers from rivals. After losing to Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola’s team has been receiving criticism from experts. And this time a very common critic, Piers Morgan, takes a go at the Premier League winners.

The Sky Blues let themselves down in yesterday’s game after a sub-par performance. This will take a toll on their title hopes as the gap has widened between the league toppers and the champions. But the senior journalist doesn’t want to back off from taking a dig at the money-rich club.

Providing opinions on multidisciplinary topics, Morgan is usually known to take harsh calls on issues. Claiming to be an Arsenal fan, the British journalist has taken it to the rival club by dipping down the table. Morgan took to Twitter, saying, “Manchester City are a busted flush. Egos writing checks; this squad can’t cash.” The team has taunted many high-profile clubs in the last few years.

And Morgan has always believed that City is overestimated and that the Gunners are a better team. This is not the first time the 58-year-old journalist has opined about them. After the treble win, Morgan undermined their achievement, calling the Arsenal Invincibles a better team. The English journalist also downplayed them last season after a similar gap in the points table.

Even though Guardiola’s side was lagging last time, Arsenal’s shrinkage in the final stages of the tournament allowed his team’s comeback. The club is in a similar position, with a 6-point-wide gap between the two teams. However, this year’s team has received different feedback from the experts.

Manchester City’s struggle is a concern for Pep Guardiola

This is the first time that the treble winners have not taken a point in four consecutive games. Since leading the table about a month ago, the UAE-owned team has slid to fourth in the table. But a bigger concern would be their performance on the pitch, which seemed to have declined, according to experts.

The team that was stingy in giving up even a single goal has now conceded the highest since 2009. Pep Guardiola has also accepted the scenario and revealed the need for solutions. The team’s midfield is set to receive a boost once its cornerstone, Kevin De Bruyne, returns from his hamstring injury.
