Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest managers of all time. The Portuguese manager has won numerous accolades as a coach. He has managed the likes of Porto, Inter, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

He is one of the most decorated soccer managers, having won 26 trophies at the domestic level. Well, we could say 26 and a half, as the manager himself joked he won a half-trophy when he was sacked before the Carabao Cup by Tottenham.

Nevertheless, he is currently living his best life with Italian giants AS Roma after leading them to a brilliant UEFA Conference title. Furthermore, he’s the first manager to make a hat trick of winning all three competitions of UEFA.

USMNT eye Jose Mourinho

With all of the talk about the international level, it appears that Mourinho may have an opportunity just around the corner. The recent rumor mill suggests that the US men’s national team wants Mourinho to lead the American boys.

The USMNT is looking to fill the void left by Gregg Berhalter a few months ago, who is currently under ongoing investigation after a shocking incident came into the limelight. Moreover, the 49-year-old contract also ended earlier this month, and it’s unlikely that the USMNT will renew it.

For now, the squad is running under the acting manager, Anthony Hudson, who is leading the boys for their January friendlies. However, they lost the match against Serbia, and now they will be looking to get a decent result against Columbia.

Nevertheless, the hunt for the USA’s next soccer manager goes on, with Mourinho being eyed by the Americans.

Soccer legend has his say

Rumors of Jose Mourinho joining the USMNT are flying around like wildfire. Many believe he is the perfect man to lead the talented squad. However, bringing in a manager of a high caliber has its own stipulations.

And these terms and conditions have been explained by ESPN’s sports commentator, Herculez Gomez. “Jose Mourinho, that setup, that system, and what’s best, you could be damn well sure.”

The former American player also took a dig at a recent scandal between Behelter and Reyna. “He’s not gonna be answering the phone, picking up overbearing parents’ phone calls, none of that also there is a sector of the families or maybe the players who think they are certain players who think they are untouchable. and maybe they are. Hierarchy exists in world football; I understand that. But when Jose Mourinho comes in that door, everybody is on their heals. Ears are perked up and nobody is safe.” he said.

Perhaps what Hérculez has pointed out is true on its own. Of course, it’s about one of the legendary managers who has accomplished great things on a domestic level.

However, he has yet to win anything on the international front. He may have a perfect opportunity, but all the faces of coins must be examined.
