The USWNT sent shockwaves across the world when they got eliminated prematurely from the World Cup. While the defensive performances by the Americans were on point, the attack led by veterans Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe was a huge letdown. Hence after the surprise ousting, it was only natural that the duo took a majority of the blame.
Although criticism rained from various online sources, witnessing Alex Morgan remain undeterred is heartening. Her recent Instagram post, dedicated to her husband, emerges as a refreshing wave of positivity amidst the previous negativity surrounding her.

Earlier today, Alex Morgan took to Instagram to wish her hubby Servando Carrasco a ‘happy birthday’. The heart-melting post had a selfie of the couple with an extremely beautiful caption. Apart from birthday greetings, the caption revealed that the couple also celebrate their anniversary on the same day as Servando’s birthday.
“Decided to shoot my shot on this day 16 years ago. Pretty damn happy with how it turned out every day after that. Happy birthday to my one and only!” – wrote USWNT’s co-captain on Instagram.

Alex Morgan has been under immense scrutiny ever since USWNT’s World Cup Exit. ‘Ringer CEO’ Bill Simmons in particular has been targeting her with immense criticism. Despite all that, it’s really heartening to see Morgan celebrating her life as she should. No matter what the stakes are, soccer is still a game at the end of the day.
Bill Simmons eviscerates Morgan’s capabilities; questions her ‘superstar’ status
Bluntly said, USWNT’s exit from the World Cup was shameful for many. After all, they were touted as the favorites. An unforeseen exit like this is surely going to sting and hurt. Bill Simmons like many of us got hurt with USWNT’s performances and hence blasted the entire team in his comeback podcast. He was particularly harsh on co-captain Alex Morgan.
Speaking about Morgan, the media personality first brought her goal tally in the last 17 World Cup games. Simmons brought to light that with 2 goals in 17 games, a player like her cannot be USWNT’s poacher. “If you take away that Thailand game, she has scored two goals in the last 17 World Cup games,” he said.

“This is the striker. This is the one who’s supposed to be the most dangerous player on the field. Who is supposed to produce goals and she hasn’t produced goals since the mid-2010s on the national level,” opined the CEO of Ringer.

He then ended the rant by saying that a player with such dismal stats can never be a “superstar”. She’s not a superstar. She’s really, honestly never been a superstar,” said Simmons boldly.
