To every soccer player, playing at their highest level is a dream for them. Soccer players aim to get to the top and have careers like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Getting into the Premier League remains the everlasting ambition for lower-league players. One of the intriguing stories to come out of the English leagues is the rise of Wrexham AFC. Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club, the whole dynamics of the club changed. Significantly, they have a long-term target of reaching the Premier League. However, a Wrexham player has recently highlighted their short-term goal.
Similar to Wrexham; David Beckham and Gary Neville have ambitions of taking Salford City to the Premier League. However, their team has struggled to gain promotion out of the league. One player of the Welsh club who aligns with Wrexham’s ambitions is Jacob Mendy. He recently received a national call-up to Gambia after his performances.

After putting up stunning performances for Wrexham in the National League, the team received a promotion after 15 years to EFL League Two, the same league where Salford City ply their trade. But according to the Leader, Mendy explained the ambitions for the club and their players. He stated, “One of the reasons why I joined the club was because we have got the same ambition. I want to play high and get promoted again with Wrexham; hopefully win the league but at least get promoted next season. I am looking forward to it.”
Since taking over the Welsh club, Ryan and Rob described their dream of getting promoted to the higher leagues. Within two years, those dreams became a reality. The team ended up with 111 points and subsequently received an automatic promotion. As for Beckham and Neville, their team finished 7th on the table in their quest to the top.
Thus, ambitions are tough to match, but hard work behind-the-scenes yields results. Enter Rob and Ryan into the chat.
