Mauricio Pochettino seems to have finally addressed the rumors regarding Manchester United. The Argentine coach is currently managing Chelsea, but there was a time when rumors were swirling of him being offered a role for the managerial position at Manchester United before they signed Erik ten Hag.

These rumors began in early 2022 after Ole Gunner Solskjaer left and the Red Devils were in search of a new manager. However, he eventually turned the job offer down, leading to the eventual appointment of the Dutchman.

Throughout the past year, the validity of these rumors has yet to be confirmed, as both the club and the former PSG coach have remained tight-lipped on the matter. And this subject came up once more in the Chelsea manager’s recent interview. As revealed by journalist, Scott Trotter, Pochettinho was asked if he was relieved to have declined the offer from Manchester United.

In true Mauricio Pochettino fashion, he skillfully evaded the question. He responded, “Again, I’m not going to talk about… you laugh but I you try to make me talk too much, I don’t want to make a mistake.” Instead, he shifted the focus to Chelsea, emphasizing his contentment with the current project at the club.

“I am not the person to talk what is going on at different clubs,” the 51-year-old stated. “I am happy here in this project. We are dealing with many situations we need to improve also.” He further added, “We are building something here and 200% focused on evolving and developing the project we want together. That is my focus to try and deliver the job.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s reluctance to delve into the details of the Manchester United rumors only serves to fuel the speculation surrounding his potential appointment at the English giants and why he declined the offer. But it is clear that the 51-year-old is more focused on his current project with the Blues, one which Dominic Thiem believes everyone should be patient about.
