Finally, Lionel Messi has lived his dream. Argentina is the World Champion, and Messi has his hands on the trophy that has eluded him so far. Although it has come at the expense of his PSG teammate and France forward Kylian Mbappe. Everyone was thinking about how PSG fans will react. Will they be happy for Messi to win it, or sad for Mbappe to lose?

On its official Twitter handle, PSG posted a picture of Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Lionel Messi with the coveted trophy. It looks like it hasn’t gone down well with the French PSG supporters as they have come out to respond, taking the side of Kylian Mbappe. 

PSG fans from France pick Mbappe over Messi

Argentina won the prestigious FIFA World Cup at the expense of France on the penalties after a comeback from France. Despite leading 2-0 for the most part, two quick Mbappe goals taking the game to the extra time pegged Argentina back. Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the extra time to take the game to the penalties where Argentina excelled. 

PSG fans looked torn between their two star forwards at the start, but the French fans have taken the side of Mbappe. It came in response to the tweet from the official PSG account. 

The PSG supporters want Mbappe to lead the PSG and think Mbappe is the best player in the world. Others were quick to point out the contribution of Mbappe to the PSG side. One fan was quick to remind Nasser Al-Khelaifi that Mbappe was the best player for him.

Meanwhile, one fan thought it was rigged for Messi and wanted Mbappe to leave PSG and the other wanted a referee in the picture to complete the trio.

Lionel Messi nearing the end of his contract with PSG

Lionel Messi will enter the last six months of his PSG contract next month. He will be free to negotiate with other clubs for his next move. Although, PSG is preparing a new contract offer to Messi to keep him at the club. PSG chief today confirmed the same. He also added that they also want to keep Mbappe for the long term.

PSG is still eyeing the biggest prize in club soccer. They want to win the UEFA Champions League, and it’s a dream of Qatar. Messi is also linked with a move to MLS side Inter Miami owned by English star David Beckham. His old club FC Barcelona is in line too to sign the Argentine talisman for free in the summer.

However, Messi is yet to respond to all the rumors and will decide on his future in the early part of 2024. Now that he has won the World Cup and squashed all the rumors of international retirement, it will be interesting to see the decision of the player.
