And she sent her wishes in style. The 68YO posted a picture donning the Sporting Lisbon, the first club of CR7, jersey. Crucially, it is the same jersey the Lisbon-based club launched recently as a third kit in honor of Cristiano Ronaldo. Sporting Lisbon introduced the jersey as a tribute to 20 years of Ronaldo’s debut in the club’s colors. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made his senior debut on September 29, 2002, in a 4-2 loss against Braga.
The black and yellow jersey has CR7 printed on it and will be this season’s third kit. Iconically, the Portuguese club launched it on August 6, the day that proved to be significant in his soccer career. On this day, he sparkled in a friendly ahead of one of the outstanding soccer managers that changed his fate.

Ronaldo made his professional senior debut in the 2002-03 season. He soon started to catch the attention of European giants. His entourage suggested the player to Barcelona President Joan Laporta. Moreover, Arsene Wenger met him in November 2002 at Emirates Stadium to discuss a possible transfer. The player’s destiny appeared to lie with the Gunners.
But August 6, 2003, arrived. Manchester United, under Sir Alex Ferguson, visited Estadio Jose Alvalade for a friendly against Sporting CP. The Portuguese club destroyed United 3-1. But an 18-year-old Ronaldo caught the eye of Ferguson. The dazzling performance also impressed the Red Devils’ players, who urged SAF to sign him. The legendary manager acted promptly, and the rest is history.
