Earlier this year, Real Madrid striker Joselu quickly became a cult hero. This was because, in the second leg of the semifinal against Bayern Munich, he came on late to win for Real. The 34-year-old has enjoyed a long career, playing for a variety of clubs in La Liga, Bundesliga, and even the Premier League. During that game against Bayern Munich, Madrid was trailing 0-1, when Joselu was subbed on and banged in two goals.

It is noteworthy that the Spaniard is actually on loan to Real Madrid from Espanyol. Back then, he had signed a 3-year contract with Espanyol, but Madrid obviously saw something in him. So when he was recruited into the ranks of the Galacticos, there was also an option to buy him outright. Now, he is flourishing at the club, and with him on this journey is his wife Melanie Canizares.

Joselu met and fell in love with flight attendant and model Melanie Canizares, establishing a long-term relationship. Finally, he popped the question in 2016 and a year later their oldest son Leo was born. About five years later, Leo became an older brother, thanks to the birth of his brother, Lucas. Speaking of Canizares, it turns out that her twin sister Daphne is married to Joselu’s teammate Real Madrid teammate Dani Carvajal.

To say that the brothers-in-law share a good relationship, would be an understatement. Admittedly, there have been a few occasions when the two were on opposite ends of the field. Especially when Joselu played for the likes of Espanyol, Alaves, Deportivo, and Celta de Vigo. Nevertheless, the two Spaniards often got along well with each other off the pitch.

In the opening leg, Real Madrid had drawn 2-2 with the Bundesliga giants away from home. Vinicius Jr gave the visitors an early lead before Leroy Sane and Harry Kane handed Bayern the advantage. Later on in the 83rd minute, the Brazilian scored a penalty to equalize the game. So when Real Madrid faced Bayern on home soil, it was time to unleash hell, Galactico style.

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan, with Alphonso Davies scoring and putting Bayern ahead. Truthfully, it was a very close game, with Manuel Neuer and Andriy Lunin getting workouts. Unfortunately, Lunin was the first to slip up with Davies’ goal in the 68th minute. Then in the 81st minute, Joselu came on for Federico Valverde, and nine minutes later, the breakthrough came. Vinicius’s shot was parried straight into Joselu’s path, and he calmly slotted in from close range. Then, one minute into injury time, Joselu scored a second goal, with an assist from Antonio Rudiger. With that, Real Madrid’s march continued, and now will face Borussia Dortmund.
