At the start of this season’s transfer window, one of the biggest priorities for Wrexham was to sign a top midfielder. Their pursuit of a central player led them to Wigan Athletic, where the Red Dragons set their eyes on a 30-year-old midfielder. While the initial reports didn’t appease fans due to the player’s father’s history, Wrexham eventually came on board thanks to his quality. Unfortunately, the Welsh outfit couldn’t entice the midfielder quickly enough as he has now ditched the League Two side for Saudi Arabia.
Earlier today, reports broke that Wigan Athletic star Max Power has decided his next club. The thirty-year-old, per sources, has chosen a 2nd-tier club from Saudi Arabia where the midfielder plans to link up with an ex-Liverpool legend turned manager to take his career forward.

Max Power ditches Wrexham for Saudi 2nd division side Al-Qadsiah FC
Two months ago when news broke that Wrexham is interested in Max Power, Red Dragons fans were a tad disappointed. The reason is his father’s undesirable history with the club. Back in September 2003, 32 individuals were arrested for orchestrating violent clashes with one being among Wrexham fans.
From the elderly to the children, many were disturbed by the notorious activity, and the people responsible were sentenced to 15 months in prison. Unfortunately for Max, his father was one of the 32 individuals arrested.
Haha, who remembers his dad getting sent to prison for football violence against erm, Wrexham fans? https://t.co/Ftg8Nvsth6 https://t.co/zcwblgdnhu

Luckily for fans, Max Power won’t be joining Wrexham as he has ditched the Welsh club. As per Wigan Today, the 30-year-old midfielder has chosen Saudi’s 2nd division side Al-Qadsiah FC as his next club. Over there, he plans to play under Liverpool legend Robbe Fowler and take his game a notch forward.

While some fans may be delighted, objectively, this is yet another blow for Phil Parkinson. Unfortunately for the gaffer, this rejection comes days after the Red Dragons missed the deadline to get their $630,000 striker’s signature over the line. Safe to say, Phil is absolutely unimpressed with the recent turn of events.

“That’s life and we move on” – Phil Parkinson left dejected after back-to-back transfer signing failure
Wrexham, after a few unfortunate injury setbacks and a shocking Ben Foster retirement, was left in a spot of bother at the fag end of the transfer window. They naturally had a hectic deadline day as they signed George Evans and Arthur Okonkwo from Arsenal on loan. The Red Dragons faithful, however, were left dejected as they couldn’t sign Harrogate striker Luke Armstrong. The transfer failed on the deadline thanks to bureaucratic paperwork despite a record $630,000 offer. This left gaffer Phil Parkinson particularly disappointed, as Armstrong would have been an excellent addition alongside Mullin.

Speaking post the transfer window deadline day, the gaffer expressed disappointment in failing to sign Armstrong since they had planned extensively for the striker. “Then we worked hard on getting a deal that suited us and Harrogate. It was held up because Harrogate wanted to get players in themselves,” said Parkinson. “In these situations, we analyze why it (paperwork) didn’t get through. I have my thoughts on it. But that’s life and we move on,” said the gaffer.
