Nothing great comes to your comfort zone. Lionel Messi had to overcome some major challenges before achieving his dream of winning the World Cup. The Argentine captain has won almost every trophy but was once trolled for not winning any international titles. Unhappy with himself, he also chose to retire at one point. However, the star recently opened up about another reason that hindered his game and revealed how his old Argentine teammate, Martín Demichelis, came to his rescue with a valuable favor.

Speaking in a recent interview with Juan Pablo Varsky on Clank, Messi confessed that his physical game wasn’t at its best before 2014. It is worth mentioning that he had to seek medical advice from a doctor referred by Demichelis.

Messi said, “In 2014, I felt that I had to make a change, that I didn’t feel good, and that I could get much more out of my physical performance, and Martín Demichelis introduced me to a doctor. I went to for several years. I learned a lot from him,” revealing that it took him a lot of time to work on his fitness with the physician.
