FC Barcelona is currently navigating turbulent waters. The Spanish club has been found guilty of bribing referees and is currently under close examination by the apex soccer authorities. While the club has remained steadfast in proclaiming its innocence, the Catalan president, Joan Laporta, has refuted the bribery charges by issuing a formidable challenge to Real Madrid fans.
Earlier, Laporta had again addressed the bribery allegations. Meanwhile, as they continue to balance their debt books, an executive details the struggles behind the contract extension of a $52 million-rated star.

In FC Barcelona’s recent Committers’ Assembly, Joan Laporta addressed the ‘Negreira Case’. As per Sport and translated by DeepL, the president insisted that “Barca’s history does not get dirty,” claiming the club can’t allow such a smear campaign against them. He claimed the Blaugranes are innocent, and they have already explained the reason behind the paid reports.
Laporta then took a direct hit at Barca’s arch-rivals: “When you go to Madrid you realize that there is a sociological madridismo in all the organisms of power. In my first stage, we already beat this sociological madridismo.” The 61-year-old then acknowledged that ‘sociological madridismo’ doesn’t like it when Barca is doing well in all aspects.
Laporta reckons that they are promoters of this plot and are keen to take over and destroy the symbols of Catalonia. He then expressed his confidence in winning the legal case. “I have bad news for the sociological madridismo because we will return to make the best Barça in history. Together we have saved the club in spite of the sticks in the wheels they put on us from outside. They attack us because we are doing well again. Sportingly and economically,” he concluded.
Indeed, these are some bold claims from the president. While Laporta is brimming with confidence, his colleague recently shed light on the difficulties they might face while pursuing their dream signing, Erling Haaland.

FC Barcelona may face problems while pursuing Erling Haaland
Earlier, Barcelona’s emerging talent, Lamine Yamal, inked a fresh contract with the Catalans, securing his presence at the Nou Camp until 2026. However, despite this commitment, the club’s executive director, Victor Font, surfaced the potential challenges they could encounter in future negotiations with Yamal. In addition, he also acknowledged the obstacles that could arise if they pursued the acquisition of Erling Haaland.
Font expressed, “Either we alter the management model, or we may find it impossible to renew Lamine [referring to a future extension]. Or we may face difficulties in our bid to bring in Haaland when he expresses a desire to compete in the Spanish La Liga.” His statement highlights the urgent need for an overhaul of the club’s administrative framework. Without such a change, it could pose a hindrance that restricts their flexibility in the transfer market.
