It has been over a year since Ali Krieger separated from her fiancée, Ashlyn Harris. Despite four years of marriage and sharing two children, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse. The former Gotham FC star, who announced her retirement at the end of the NWSL last year, decided to address the recent disclosures from her ex-partner. However, amidst this warmth, I’ve also had to confront a wave of dishonesty and misinformation regarding my marriage and personal life.”

“While I’m not yet prepared to make a formal statement, I feel compelled to address this currently to prevent further distortion of the truth. Above all else, my unwavering priority remains the protection and well-being of my children. I promise to share more when my heart feels ready. In this vulnerable time, I humbly ask for privacy and understanding from all involved, as I grapple with the profound changes in my personal life.”

Having simultaneously shared this post on her Instagram stories, Krieger concluded her message on a struggling note. However, the former defender did vow to share her side of the story in the coming days, urging people to maintain privacy until then.

Notably, Harris and Krieger first crossed paths at the US Women’s National Team camp in 2010. Over time, their close friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. In March 2019, the former couple made their relationship official by announcing their engagement, going on to win the World Cup together just a few months later.

In December of the same year, Ali and Ashlyn tied the knot in front of their families. They later expanded their family by adopting daughter Sloane in 2021 and son Ocean in 2022. However, their relationship began to unravel when Harris filed for divorce from Krieger in Florida on September 19. Shortly afterward, Harris sparked dating rumors with actress Sophia Bush, who had also divorced her husband, Grant Hughes, just 13 months after their wedding.

On the latest episode of her Naked Sports podcast, Ashlyn Harris candidly discussed her struggles with Ali Krieger. “And that’s what my therapist knew right away — it was my ability to sit and suffer…my ability to serve other people before my own wants and needs, which I genuinely think probably kept me in that marriage for as long as it did,” she said.

Ashlyn opened up about her efforts to salvage the union, including suggesting an open marriage, though she quickly realized it wasn’t a solution that suited her. The former goalkeeper also suggested that Krieger never prioritized her, adding that there was no intimacy throughout the “entire” marriage.

“I didn’t feel that sense of connection, whether emotional or physical. It was soccer, job, kids, and then somewhere down the line, it was like, ‘Okay, what about me? I felt so embarrassed and I felt so much shame that I didn’t know how to tell people that, like, ‘Oh, my wife doesn’t want to touch me,’” she added.

Furthermore, when asked whether Krieger would dispute her eyebrow-raising revelation, Ashlyn responded, “No. She can’t say that because we weren’t intimate the entire part of our marriage. So, I mean, the facts are just the facts.”

The podcast only came to light a week ago, with Krieger finally stating her first response to Harris. Either way, it remains to be seen how she addresses her side of the story.
