In 2020, Alex Morgan made her comeback after taking a significant break from soccer. She had just become a mother. Charlie had since become a fan favorite, but her mom’s comeback wasn’t as easy as it may have seemed. Looking from after 2 years, she showed almost no difference in her game, but the first game was an uphill battle.
Alex Morgan will be a key piece of the USWNT offense, especially after Mallory Swanson’s almost season-ending injury. Her comeback was a bit disappointing as USWNT, despite being favorites for gold, lost to Canada in Semifinals.
A Bronze medal isn’t what represents the legacy of a player like Alex Morgan. However, she gave a glimpse of a player she was and would become in the future. Back in 2021, Alex Morgan talked about her comeback, in which she discussed many many things about that time period in her career.
