Lionel Messi has grabbed all the attention following his arrival in the United States. However, the recent actions of LAFC’s veteran defender did not go unnoticed by an ESPN pundit, who ripped a new one into the defender for fanboying over Messi.

Following their 3-1 defeat against Inter Miami, LAFC’s veteran defender was seen exchanging jerseys and clicking photos alongside Leo and his kids. This could be just seen as a friendly act between the two soccer players. However, an ESPN pundit believes he has been let down by the veteran, as he expected him to act more composed.

During the post-match show on ESPN, soccer pundit and former Columbian star Sebastian Salazar was all over LAFC defender Giorgio Chiellini. While talking to USMNT legend Herculez Hernandez, Salazar claimed that MLS players have been gushing over Messi, which is annoying. The pundit also thought that Chiellini should have acted differently considering his veteran status.

“What was surprising to me was Giorgio Chiellini. I only bring this up because it’s come up quite a bit with MLS players being fanboys. I thought if anybody would not go down the Messi fanboy route. It would be a grizzled veteran like Giorgio Chiellini.”

“Instead, before even Inter Miami players could get to Lionel Messi, Chiellini was not only out there. He was out there with kids. I don’t know if they are his kids or somebody else’s kids, but getting a picture with Messi. With your ways of yelling at clouds like an old man out on your front porch, surely you have to have a problem with Chiellini, who didn’t have a great game fanboying like that over Messi.”
