It was a disappointing match for Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr. The clash between the top 2 sides was expected to be a fiercely fought battle but Al Hilal pulled off a 3-0 win. The match was not without controversy, as CR7 and Al Nassr saw a goal ruled out by VAR. This was a big talking point and Luis Castro did not mince his words. However, it appears as though Jorge Jesus did not appreciate his comments while speaking about being unfazed.

Mitrovic and Milinkovic Savic’s goals helped Neymar-less Al Hilal overcome their rivals. However, there was a bit of speculation over Al Hilal’s second goal and a few penalty calls for Al Nassr. Yet, Jorge Jesus was quite straightforward about who was the better team.

The Al Hilal manager was critical of his opponent’s comments. He said, “Did we cry when Neymar was injured despite his importance to the team? What if the same thing happened with Benzema at Al Ittihad or Cristiano at Al Nassr? We are Al Hilal and we will never be affected by anything”. It seems the Portuguese tactician wants his counterpart to be more accepting of the result. On the other hand, Al Nassr’s Luis Castro was not in the best mood as he stated the referee did not manage the game in the best way.

He felt Al Nassr was denied two penalties and Mitrovic’s goal should not have stood. His frustration is understandable considering how his team controlled the game. They enjoyed 64% possession but just couldn’t convert it into goals. This match also halted the momentum of Al Nassr, who had been unbeaten since September. Portuguese soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo appeared a frustrated figure throughout the match. Perhaps the veteran did not fully recover from his recent injury. Let’s dive deeper.

The soccer icon was not at his influential best and bar a disallowed goal, had a match to forget. Considering that Cristiano Ronaldo is approaching 39, should Al Nassr have managed their talisman better and maybe used him as an impact sub against tired legs? It is indeed a question worth asking and something they should prioritize in the future.
