It is officially announced that the USA will be hosting the 2024 edition of Copa America. Fans are very excited to see Lionel Messi perform his magic. But, also a slight chance of him playing against the home team. But, that dream might be a nightmare for soccer fans who are associated with the sport from or before 2016.
Lionel Messi vs USMNT, 2016
The last time Argentina played against USMNT was in 2016. It was the semifinal of Copa America. To say the match was one-sided would be a monumental understatement. The South American giants won the match 4-0. USMNT failed to even put up a fight. On top of it, Lionel Messi hit a free kick that is still alive in the hearts of fans. Here is how fans reacted to that kick on a tweet recently.
I was fucking there and the USMNT did not have a fucking shot on goal. I was so embarrassed

That was a very underwhelming performance by the USMNT. They sure have stepped up their skills and potential to upset big matches. But, beating a World Cup-winning team led by arguably one of the great players to ever bless soccer would be a tough task. However, this matchup and the whole tournament would be a blessing for the USA.
