When Cristiano Ronaldo teased that the next guest would ‘break the internet’, many assumed it would be none other than the other GOAT, Lionel Messi. I mean, why not? The Portuguese phenom needed just 90 minutes to hit a million subscribers on his channel and reached 50 million subscribers within a week—numbers even Hollywood A-listers dream of. However, when the guest turned out to be MrBeast, everyone expected the views to skyrocket but despite the hype, Ronaldo’s video has yet to break the internet or any records for that matter.

The two of them combined have almost 400 million subscribers with Jimmy Donaldson a.k.a. Mrbeast currently on 331 million. So when these two heavy hitters joined forces, their collaboration was expected to shatter the record for the most-viewed non-music YouTube video within 24 hours. However, it appears that the Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 will hold onto the record for now.

The highly anticipated trailer got more than 90 million views within 24 hours. After 10 hours, Cristiano’s video titled ‘I Meet MrBeast To Break The Internet!!’ currently has around 12 million views. While the video is on course to be the Al Nassr player’s most popular one, it did under-deliver on the ‘Internet-breaking’ part. This comes as a surprise, but let’s not forget the other YouTube records the former Real Madrid player holds.

Apart from being the most followed man on the Internet, Cristiano Ronaldo started his YouTube channel and gained a million subscribers in under an hour and a half. A week later, Ronaldo’s channel had almost 50 million subscribers, and his total following across all social media channels is nearly one billion accounts.

The 5 time Ballon d’Or winner also joked about overtaking MrBeast in subscribers but that may take a while, if it’s even possible. While Cristiano is no stranger to breaking records, this minor accolade eludes him. Perhaps it’s time for him to bring on someone who he has known quite well over the years and our gut feeling says that this would break the internet for sure!

The internet would go crazy if Lionel Messi were to feature on his channel. Imagine seeing two of the greatest footballers of all time, sit down and have a casual conversation. While the two shared an intense rivalry on the field, an off-field collaboration would cause a social media frenzy. In 2019, during a Champions League draw, Ronaldo joked that he’s yet to have dinner with Messi, and we are hoping that it comes true.

So far, Rio Ferdinand, a former teammate, remains the only footballer to have featured on his channel. So maybe another ex-Manchester United star could make a guest appearance? There’s even a possibility that Ronaldo’s mentor, Sir Alex Ferguson could feature. Let’s hope Cristiano fully commits to his YouTube channel after his playing days are over. For now, his focus remains on his upcoming fixture against Al-Qadisiyah in the Saudi Pro League.
