This is because she had to get substituted off in less than ten minutes after an unexpected no-contact injury in the NWSL final against Gotham FC.
Will that turn out to be a big nightmare for OL Reign? Mainly because Megan Rapinoe over the years for club and country has made her presence felt in the important games.

This year’s NWSL final between OL Reign and Gotham FC was one of the most anticipated matches in the USA and women’s soccer all over the world. USWNT legend Megan Rapinoe was going to play the last game in her playing career. However, it looks like the game has immediately turned into a nightmare for OL Reign and Megan Rapinoe.
This is because had to be substituted in the 3rd minute of the game because of a non-contact injury. It is a lower leg injury for the OL Reign star player. The medical team had to carry her off the field. Injuries have restricted her game time this season. She was also given a hug by her best friend and former national teammate Alexandra Blaire Krieger. Krieger has also confirmed that she will retire after this match.

Megan Rapinoe’s final season did not go as per plan
The USWNT legend would have aspired for a fairytale ending to her career. However, unfortunately, constant injuries have ruined her final season. She also suffered because of injuries in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with her national team. Megan only could make 3 appearances in the mega tournament. She couldn’t contribute with goals and assists. Megan also missed an important penalty in the round of 16 game against Sweden which ultimately led to their elimination. This was the USWNT’s first-ever exit before the semi-final in their history.

Injuries have also hampered her final season with OL Reign. She managed to make 18 appearances this season in which she could only manage 4 goals and 5 assists.
