PSG’s dominance in the Ligue 1 cannot be denied. The Parisian club has been the undisputed champions, winning the league 11 times, and will be the favorite this year as well. However, the same cannot be said for their European status. The Qatar-owned side spent over a gigantic $1.48 billion on transfers but failed miserably in the European competitions. They have only reached the UEFA Champions League final once in their history, losing to Bayern Munich. Now, club manager Luis Enrique has been in the spotlight after his comments on the Kylian Mbappe-starring team’s ambition in the UCL.

PSG will look to rebuild after losing Lionel Messi and Neymar this season. All eyes will be on Kylian Mbappe, as he is now the club’s sole superstar. The Frenchmen will be looking to win his first Champions League with the Ligue 1 winners. But Luis Enrique believes that PSG is not obsessed about winning the biggest prize in club competition.

The former Barcelona coach believes his side is not obsessed with the competition. Instead, they are enthusiastic and ambitious. “What is important is that we are not obsessed with this issue, but that we are enthusiastic and ambitious because players who are afraid never write their names in the books of history.”

Enrique also stated, “We will see what happens later because the competition is starting to put the teams where they should be, but in terms of potential, I don’t think there is a team that is better than us, and I really think so. I think there are a lot of teams similar to us, and we have to try to approach the tournament, giving our best to have a realistic chance.”

The French club will face a massive test in this season’s competition. They started the competition with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes. Superstar Kylian Mbappe again showed his class as he bagged a crucial goal in the win. However, a question still lingers- how long will Mbappe be part of this project?

Kylian Mbappe’s contract will expire in 2024. The former AS Monaco forward has been linked heavily in the past with Spanish Giants Real Madrid. Many believe the French superstar will most likely join the Los Blancos on a free transfer. But after PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made a bold statement that the 24-year will stay in the French capital, this transfer saga takes another massive twist.

Despite being third in the league, PSG are also favorites to clinch the league this year. Like every year, Kylian Mbappe has been in exceptional form this season as well. The talented forward has already scored seven goals in only six appearances. He has scored 41 goals in 64 matches in the Champions League. The PSG star showed the world his talent and mentality in the 2022 World Cup held back in the summer. However, now Mbappe will have his eyes set on the Champions League.
