Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been in the headlines this year for various reasons. Fans are searching for these Goliaths of soccer far more than any soccer player in the world. It has been more than a decade since they dominated the soccer world. Even though Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia after an ugly fallout with Manchester United and Lionel Messi’s potential departure from PSG. Soccer fans all around the world couldn’t have enough to talk about these megastars.

Yesterday PSG faced Brest in a Ligue 1 matchup. The behemoths of Ligue 1 won the match due to a last-minute goal by Kylian Mbappe. The goal came from a magnificent pass by Messi. On the other hand, Ronaldo is putting the Saudi Pro league’s defenders in a frenzy by single-handedly winning matches for Al-Nassr. The two megastars of football not only compete against each other on the pitch but also off the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced his signing with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in December. At the time Messi was still riding the World Cup 2022 winning hype train, and he would then go on to win FIFA’s best men’s player award. Ronaldo too would add a new trophy in his case. He won the Player of the month award in the Saudi Pro League for his immense impact in the games of February.

All these headlines-worthy accolades of these mega stars had them rise exponentially above the rest of their peers. However, between these two, Ronaldo took the lead from his arch-rival. According to the reports, Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list of most searched soccer players with 17.4 million searches.

Behind him is the Argentinian magician Messi, with 13.2 million searches. His PSG teammates occupy the 3rd and 4th spots on this list. Neymar followed Messi with 9.2 million searches and Mbappe was right behind him with 8.5 million. Several notable soccer players rounded up the top 10 although there were some surprising selections.

The list then goes on to Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski with 3.2 million. Karim Benzema with 2.4 million is on 6th followed by Argentine starlet Paulo Dybala with 2.2 million. A very public feud with Colombian pop star Shakira led Gerard Pique to be 8th on this list with 1.9 million searches. The good samaritan of Bayern Munich, Sadio Mane lands just behind Pique with 1.8 million and the top 10 list ends with former Barcelona great Luis Suarez.
