Al Nassr is still on its journey to achieve the highest honors after signing Cristiano Ronaldo. The club, nevertheless, has continued to invest in other top players. Now, one former player has backed the Riyadh outfit despite their unintended and unexpected results. This legend from Karim Benzema’s team has evidently made a bold choice.
Even though the Saudi Pro League has dispersed the latest world-class signings to a few different teams, the domination from the three top clubs still seems to remain. But a former star of the SPL felt that Al Nassr would ace the tournament instead of Al Ittihad.

Cristiano Ronaldo not only brought attention to Saudi but also gained a lot of fans for Al Nassr. Although most soccer in Saudi is dominated by Al Hilal and Al Nassr, Al Ittihad also packs a punch when required. However, Karim Benzema’s side was not backed to win this year’s league trophy by one of its legends. Naif Hazazi, a former player at Al Ittihad, said, “I nominate Al Nassr to win the league championship this season.”

Hazazi, who played for both Al Ittihad and Al Nassr, backed Al Nassr to bag the trophy. The former striker played for Ittihad from 2006 to 2013. But the reason for him choosing Ronaldo’s team is not known yet.
The presence of the Portuguese icon for the entire season could be one reason behind Hazazi’s pick. The all-time top scorer has been in stellar form this season, scoring 16 goals. He was also chosen as the Roshn Saudi League Player of the Month for two consecutive months, August and September 2023.

Al Nassr started the Saudi League season with two losses in a row. Nevertheless, they are picking up the pieces now. Amidst defensive woes, the team conceded 12 goals in 9 games.
Considering the upcoming matches of Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, the Hazazi-backed Al Nassr needs to step up the game and cannot afford to lose more points. Hazazi himself won 2 league titles with Al Ittihad in 2007 and 2009.

Al Nassr will play 10th-placed team Damac on the 21st of October after a gap of two weeks. Their recent draw against 15th-placed Abha would be seen as a two-point loss. However, the Riyad-based team has a good squad with quality players like Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic. It’s yet to be seen if this prediction comes to life.
