Per the ticket exchange and resale company StubHub’s data, Lionel Messi, Taylor Swift, and Deion Sanders drastically changed the sporting scene. Swift’s presence in Kansas City Chiefs’ games coupled with her romance rumors with Travis Kelce saw Chiefs’ ticket sales soar to dramatic highs. Since taking over as the Buffaloes’ head coach, Deion Sanders aided the NCAA team to see a 15x increase in ticket sales. However, the Chiefs failed to clinch the no.1 spot on StubHub’s top-selling NFL teams. Neither did Coach Prime’s Buffs become the most-selling NCAA Football team.

Enter Lionel Messi, Inter Miami becomes the fourth top-selling MLS team in two days. As the Messi mania continued, Inter Miami ended the season as MLS’ highest-selling team for the year, ousting Los Angeles FC. Besides, Messi’s move saw a mammoth 160% surge in net sales for the MLS in the 2023 season, and attracted fans from over 90 countries, as Inter Miami registered a 220% rise in international ticket sales in 2023 over 2022.

While StubHub data technically proves Lionel Messi’s unparalleled impact on US Sports, there are quite a few who already knew that he surpassed the likes of Taylor Swift and Coach Prime.

Moreover, Salazar went on to state that Messi is globally more recognized than Taylor Swift.
