Inter Miami has been on an unbeatable winning streak ever since the arrival of the legendary Lionel Messi. The team’s success can be attributed to the massive splurge they made in the summer transfer window, signing star players like Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and of course, Lionel Messi himself. However, a surprising recent decision can potentially ditch their biggest dream.

Since Lionel Messi joined the ranks, Inter Miami won all seven of its matches in the Leagues Cup. And Thanks to the Argentine’s 10 goals even lifted the trophy. Their dominance continued in the U.S. Open Cup semi-final as with the help of two assists from Messi they defeated Cincinnati to secure a spot in the Finals. However, their winning streak may come to an unfortunate end as Messi’s appearance in the next match is uncertain.

Inter Miami is set to return to the Major League Soccer (MLS) to face the NY Red Bulls in their upcoming match. This match was highly anticipated as it was supposed to be Messi’s debut in the MLS. However, recent statements from coach Tata Martino suggest that Messi may not play due to fatigue from continuous appearances.

“Leo like many other players is reaching a physical limit,” Martino revealed. “From this point forward, we will evaluate how we approach these next three games”. This potential setback could be detrimental to Inter Miami’s chances of success. Without Messi, the team has struggled in the MLS, with a record of 5-3-14 in their 22 matches so far, placing them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Despite their position in the standings, Inter Miami still has a chance to make it to the playoffs if they can win at least eight of their remaining 12 games. The team’s recent performance clearly indicates that Messi is the key to their winning formula. His absence in the upcoming match against the NY Red Bulls could be a significant blow to their playoff aspirations. This will also be a major setback for team owner David Beckham, who invested a substantial sum of $65,600,000 in order to revitalize the team.

After a disappointing run in the MLS, Inter Miami was forced to make some significant decisions. These decisions led them to acquire former Barcelona teammates but at a considerable cost. Lionel Messi alone commands a salary of $54,000,000, while Sergio Busquets earns a staggering $10,000,000 per year.

Jordi Alba’s salary of $1,600,000 may be on the lower end but is still substantial. The amount of money invested has resulted in success in the Leagues Cup; however, if this success does not carry over into the MLS as well, it will undoubtedly be disappointing for both the team and its fans.
