When it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo, it is always him against the world, they say. Recent developments from the Al Hilal-Al Ittihad tie in the King Cup semi-final prove this claim right. Al Hilal striker Malcom obscenely taunted rival fans. But unlike Ronaldo, he is not reportedly risking a suspension from the Saudi League’s disciplinary committee. Therefore, Al Hilal would summon Malcom to play in the decisive King Cup of Champions final.
As it happened, Malcom fired back at the Al Ittihad fans at the King Abdullah Sports City after beating the hosts 2-1 to cruise into the King Cup final. His gesture towards the fans reminisced of Cristiano Ronaldo’s outrage against Al Shabab fans when they chanted Lionel Messi’s name. Ronaldo had obscenely pumped his hands. Similarly, the Brazilian Al Hilal star repeatedly pumped his hands at the rival club. Per viral clips on X, Malcom could be seen repeating the gesture multiple times.
However, he is off the hook. As per Saudi Arabian news handle NFC Diario, the penalty given to Malcom will not cause him to miss the King Cup finals.

Al Hilal will play against the winner of tonight’s Al Nassr-Al Khaleej tie. Malcom’s team has a better advantage against either of the teams. Hilal is the Saudi League’s top seed, whereas Al Khaleej is the 11th seed. So it won’t be a walk in the park for Khaleej to face the Riyadh club in the final. Al Nassr, despite housing Cristiano Ronaldo and other superstars, has spectacularly failed to win at least once against Al Hilal in three games this season. Anyhow, it is surprising to see Malcom go scot-free. Ronaldo, on the other hand, faced multiple punishments and bans for his temper tantrums.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncanny tryst with suspensions and penalties
When Cristiano Ronaldo obscenely clapped back at Al Shabab fans, the Saudi League suspended him for a game as a punishment. Besides, the league authorities asked him to pay $5,333 in fines to Al Shabab and $2,666 to the Saudi Football Federation. It is unclear if Malcom is also awaiting a similar fine from the Saudi Federation. However, he still won’t miss any matches.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo resumed action against Al Khaleej in a league tie, returning fresh off a ban. The league’s disciplinary committee banned him for two games for elbowing Al Hilal’s Ali-Al-Bulayhi in the Super Cup semi-final. Had Al Nassr not appealed against the ban, CR7 would have missed the game against Al Khaleej as well. In light of the Malcom incident, it won’t be a surprise if Ronaldo fans say the world is unfair against him alone.
