Julian Alvarez was also on the scoresheet and opened the tally in the 7th minute. Manchester City were back to their usual self after the international break. It was the perfect day for Pep Guardiola as his side beat Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. However, it looks like the soccer experts were not happy with the performance of Erling Haaland. Analyst Don Hutchison has now claimed that Haaland, despite scoring, did not have a great game and looked invisible.
Don Hutchinson speaking on ESPN said, “Haaland’s a number nine. Even though now he plays a little bit deeper essentially Alvarez is still a number nine so I think the knock-on effect is when you watch even Haaland he’s actually quite invisible.”
He added, “It’s quite anonymous sometimes even though he scored today, he’s not looking like he’s going to score three or four or five like he was last season. When de Bruyne is in that position, I think you’ll see City scores a lot more goals, so that’s probably why they’ve not been prolific, they’re not beating teams by fours and five.”
Erling Haaland is already facing disappointment with the prospect of Lionel Messi winning the Ballon d’Or this season. This season, the big problem is that Manchester City have failed to provide enough service to their star striker.

Erling Haaland can be blamed for not converting certain chances into goals this season. But, another problem for the Manchester City striker is the lack of service he has received this season. The issue is majorly due to the long-term injury of Kevin De Bruyne.
In the last season, Kevin De Bruyne provided the majority of assists for the goals of the Norwegian. It also looks like Manchester City at certain times has struggled to build attacks. Haaland is a striker who finishes the chances in the box as a poacher. He is not someone who likes to come deeper to receive the ball and build the attack. His teammate Julian Alvarez, however, has excelled in helping create. This has made the soccer experts make the opinion that the Argentine is a better and more important player for Manchester City than the Norway international.
