Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham, the club has seen a landmark shift in their fortunes. The critical catalyst behind this massive upward trend for the Red Dragons has been their documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘. After a successful season 1, the Welsh club is back with its promotional run for the second season amidst chaos on the sporting spectrum.
The second season of the show returns on the 12th of this month on Hulu. Hence in a bid to advertise and create buzz among its main target audience; the Red Dragons have set up an innovative tactic involving a food truck. This tactic has won netizen’s hearts for its novelty and creativity.

One of the key reasons behind Wrexham’s incredulous growth on social media has been their social media presence. The Red Dragons are known for their creativity and wit online and hence unsurprisingly; they left no stone unturned for ideating an innovative way to promote their documentary’s second season. The Red Dragons thus came up with the idea of a food truck selling delightful Welsh delicacies outside American football stadiums.
This idea works well since it’s the embodiment of why the documentary became so successful – introducing Wrexham and its raw idiosyncracies to America. Thus before the season premiere, on 9/9, FX’s Welcome To Wrexham food truck will be stationed at the LA Memorial Coliseum in LA, CA. On that day, the coliseum hosts the USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal game.

It’s heartening to see Wrexham continue their promotional run of their documentary in full swing despite the on-field chaos. The mood around the club currently is sour since they missed out on their main transfer window target due to the deadline.

Before starting the season, expectations were high from Wrexham considering the success they had last season. However, they started this season as badly as it could get, and to make things worse; they also lost Ben Foster as he announced a surprise retirement. Keeping these factors and Paul Mullin’s long-term injury, Wrexham had no option but to go back to the market and get replacements.
Since these things happened so late in the season, the Welsh club had a hectic deadline day when they signed George Evans from Millwall and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo from Arsenal on loan.

Their main signing however was set to be Harrorgate striker Luke Armstrong for whom Wrexham broke the bank at a record $630,000. Unfortunately, paperwork got in the way. Thus the signing despite having agreements between both the parties didn’t go through. Gaffer Phil Parkinson in particular was upset since Armstrong would have been a great contemporary to Mullin.
“A lot of work had gone into identifying Luke, as we looked at players across the board. I felt he would be a good balance to the strikers we already had in the building,” said the gaffer. But after a sick twist of fate, all he could say was – that’s life and we move on.“
