Emma Hayes is in the news after her success with the USWNT. She pleasantly enjoys all the applause and sees Sir Alex Ferguson in her persona. Now, now. Sir Alex? Is that too far? We certainly don’t feel so. Emma Hayes is a generational coach, applying her soccer thought process through the 11 players on the field. And she is successful.
Just like Sir Alex, Hayes dominated the English soccer scenario with Chelsea. But, when someone asked her whether she was the Alex Ferguson of the WSL, she delivered an epic response. Sir Alex set his team to play at full throttle, and he expected nothing less. Therefore, Emma Hayes is built in the same mold. The element of curiosity makes the game interesting, and Emma Hayes is a prominent advocate of that.
In Chelsea’s 6-0 thrashing of Manchester United last year, we saw a brand of soccer from Hayes where the forwards just dribbled forward and attacked at every single opportunity. It requires high fitness levels and a hungry appetite to score goals. Moreover, Sir Alex was present at Old Trafford to watch his team get dismantled.
