The Roshn Saudi League has become no less than a juggernaut. Each day, new players are linked with a move to the Gulf nation. The latest star that has become a subject of interest for the Middle Eastern sides is FC Barcelona star Raphinha. However, it’s unlikely the player will become part of the exodus, as sporting director Deco isn’t approving his exit.
As per the reports from Diario Sport, Deco has stepped in to stop Raphinha from leaving Barcelona. Due to financial difficulties, the club is still willing to explore selling an attacker, but it looks like Raphinha will be going nowhere. Back in the 2023 summer transfer window, Raphinha was linked with a move away from Camp Nou.
The Brazilian had reportedly failed to impress a few within the management of Barcelona, which led the Spanish giants to put him on sale. While Neymar’s Al Hilal expressed their interest in signing the former Leeds man, the Catalans stepped out at the very last moment, giving the player another chance to prove himself.

Notably, Raphinha has made 15 starts in La Liga, notching three goals and five assists. Additionally, he has also notched a goal in a single Copa Del Rey and two assists in the UCL. It seems the club has changed its stance over Raphinha, as he might be one of the ‘untouchables’, despite his unimpressive numbers. Well, this begs an important question.

If Raphinha stays, who goes?
According to renowned journalist Jose Alvarez Haya, Joao Felix’s significance in Barcelona has significantly diminished. Xavi and the other coaching staff do not view him as crucial for the upcoming season, and the decision is primarily tactical. The Portuguese winger doesn’t align with Xavi’s coaching style. Additionally, Xavi aims to reinforce the wing position. Felix can, however, be accepted for the 2024–25 campaign if he is signed again on loan and not on permanent.

“If Joao comes on loan, good, but if not, he is not a priority for Xavi,” said Alvarez. Unfortunately, Felix has notched just 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 La Liga games. In the UCL, the player managed to score three goals and provide an assist. However, these numbers highlight the need for improvement on the striker’s part. Without a significant change, there’s a possibility that the player may have to consider leaving in the coming months.
