Neymar suffered a horrible injury in his last outing, as he suffered a ruptured ACL. The injury is a big blow for the player who just returned from an extended break in August due to an ankle injury in February.

While there is no doubt that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated soccer for the past decade, Neymar Jr has wiggled his way in following some outstanding performances over the years. The Al-Hilal star has been a cornerstone for Brazil since his debut posting some amazing numbers.

Based on stats and numbers, Neymar has a higher goal contribution than both Messi and Ronaldo in international soccer. The Brazilian has scored 79 goals and 59 assists in 128 games; a goal contribution of 1.07 per game.

In comparison, Messi has scored 106 goals and made 56 assists in his 178 outings to take his tally to 0.91 per game. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list with the most goals out of the three, scoring 127 times while making 45 assists in 203 games to take his goal contribution tally to 0.84 per game.

The numbers serve as proof of Neymar’s brilliance over the years. Very few players in the world can claim that they have outclassed both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the field. Concerns over Neymar’s future following latest injury

There have been a lot of speculations surrounding Neymar’s future after his recent injury. The player suffered a torn ACL during the World Cup Qualifying game against Uruguay. Ney was taken out of the game in the dying minutes of the first half, with Brazil losing the game 2-0 in the absence of their key player.

However, Brazil’s woes have taken another hit as Neymar is set to be ruled out for another nine months. According to the Brazil Football Confederation, the player has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee. Neymar is expected to go into surgery later this year and then will start the rehabilitation process.

BFC’s medical staff believe that Neymar can be back before Copa America 2024 if everything goes according to plans. Fans will hope that the player can manage to fight his way back following the injury. Neymar has proven time and again that he will not be derailed by injuries, however, the extent of his latest injuries could seriously hamper his career.
