David Beckham has been revealing the inside story of how he coped with incidents in his life following the release of his 4-part Netflix documentary ‘Beckham.’ Now, in a recent conversation about coping with the heavy criticizm of his red card at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, Beckham spoke about how he dealt with that incident, citing his “working class” upbringing.
Beckham was sent off in England’s Round of 16 game against Argentina at France ’98 following kicking out at Diego Simeone after the score was tied 2-2. England eventually lost to La Albiceleste on penalties while Beckham was the victim of harsh criticizm from the media and fans alike, with even Manchester United fans booing him while he played at Old Trafford.

The former Red Devils no. 7 revealed how he managed the whole backlash he faced in England after his red card against Argentina in a candid talk with his ex-Manchester United teammates. Speaking to Gary Neville and Roy Keane on their podcast The Overlap and Stick To Football, Beckham said, “Going back on the era that I grew up in and we all grew up in you know and obviously coming from where I was from I was from working class family you know and if I turn around to my dad at the time and said, ‘Dad I don’t feel great today can I see a therapist I want need to talk about it?’, he’d be like boy just get on with it.”
“You know and that’s how I was brought up. So no, I didn’t see anyone. I felt that I had the right people around me to not see to not see anyone but I also do think you know these days we talk about people being able to talk and it’s a good thing and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but I grew up in an era where you know my dad would just say go and get on with it boy,” he added.
As the current Inter Miami owner revealed, he found support and encouragement from all those close to him, including his the girlfriend Victoria. Now, Posh Spice has further elucidated that claim with her recent post on Instagram.

As reported earlier, David Beckham’s wife Victoria posted a heartfelt message and photographs on Instagram shortly after the premiere of her husband’s documentary.
The former Spice Girl’s post read: ““Still making me laugh and I’m still teaching @davidbeckham to dance 😂 We all love you so much and are so proud of you.”

It’s certain that everybody needs a support system from the people close to them, no matter whether you’re a soccer or sports icon or not. David Beckham’s recent revelations further reveal that despite not having gone to therapy, he still needed the support of those close to him in spite of his working class upbringing.
