Not many could have predicted the nature of Shakira and Gerard Pique’s split. The former couple parted ways last year after the singer found out that the Barcelona star had been cheating on her. It was a tough time for the Colombian pop star as she found out about Pique’s infidelity while her father was admitted to the ICU. Despite her rocky relationship with the player, it seems like the Colombian sensation has maintained her relations with his former employers.

Shakira took to her Instagram as she announced a major partnership alongside FC Barcelona, a club where Pique is mythos. They are coming together for a grand project worth $16 million. Shakira was elated to announce the new partnership with the singer present in her hometown of Barranquilla.

Shakira set to open a new school with Foundation FC Barcelona

The town of Barranquilla was set alight as the Colombian pop sensation Shakira was back in her hometown. The Hips Don’t Lie singer was present at an event alongside the mayor of the town. Following the event, Shakira made a major announcement on social media. She informed her fans that her Barefoot Foundation, alongside Foundation FC Barcelona, will open a new school in Barranquilla.

“Nothing better than coming back to Barranquilla and this time inaugurating this new Barefoot school that will serve 1050 students.Thanks to our allies Fundacion FC Barcelona, La Caixa LaSalle College Foundation, Mayor Pumarejo, Mayor of Barranquilla, and the Secretary of Education for adding efforts and betting on the future of Colombian children.”

This is a great effort from Shakira to help boost the development in her hometown. The singer has come a long way since making her debut in 1990. While the singer has faced a fair share of ups and downs in her career, it seems like things are back on track.

Shakira and former Barcelona star Gerard Pique were one of the most popular soccer couples before their split. However, 2022 was a rough phase for the ex-couple, with Shakira finding out that Pique had been cheating on her. Talking with En Espanyol in an old interview, Shakira informed the outlet that she found out about Pique’s news while she was attending to her father, who was admitted to the ICU.

“Everything happened at once. My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in ICU. I thought I wasn’t going to survive so much. The man I have loved the most in my life, my father, was leaving me when I needed him the most.”

A year later, it seems the two have somewhat managed to move on from the scandal. While Shakira following the split has turned her focus back to her music career, Gerard Pique has been trying his best to promote his Kings League around the world.
