When soccer legend Pele died on December 29th, the world mourned the loss of a true icon. It is no secret that the life of a celebrity is usually under a microscope. The public wants to know every detail about their favorite stars, from their eating habits to their love lives. And now, with the release of Pele’s will, a new story is emerging about the legend’s complicated private life.
Pele was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento in October 1940 in Três Corações, Brazil. He is widely regarded as the greatest soccer player of all time. However, Pele’s private life was not as stellar as his soccer career. In 1964, Pele had an affair with his cleaner, Anisio Machado. The result of this affair was the birth of Sandra Regina, Pele’s daughter. Throughout his life, Pele denied that Sandra was his daughter, despite a DNA test that proved otherwise.
Pele included Sandra in his will
In his will, which was made before his death, Pele included Sandra as one of his 7 children. And left her a share of his wealth and estate. This is a significant change from his life when he denied her existence. It is possible that Pele’s change of heart was due to the guilt he felt over denying his daughter for so many years.
