Despite winning several prestigious trophies with Real Madrid, Marcelo chose the Copa Libertadores title as the most important moment. Marcelo’s Fluminense won a thriller against one of the biggest giants of South American soccer, Boca Juniors in the final. After the game, Marcelo said, “Real Madrid will understand. This title is the most important because Fluminense is the club that raised me. Madrid knows it is always in my heart.”

This is the club’s first-ever Intercontinental Cup, and Marcelo claims it to be a bigger achievement than all his Real Madrid wins. The defender said that his former club knows he loves them, but he etched Fluminense at the center of his heart. The former Brazilian international also regards it as his primary groomer.

Known for his exemplary ball control and skills, Marcelo came to Real Madrid in 2007. That was just the beginning of a legendary career, which saw him win 25 trophies subsequently. These include 5 UEFA Champions League titles, 6 La Liga titles, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, and 2 Copa del Rey trophies.
